Cannes to Saint-Tropez: black Mercedes Sprinter minibus parked by the sea with palm trees

Cannes to Saint-Tropez with a private chauffeur

Door to door between the Croisette and the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, without changing trains or waiting for a ferry. One Mercedes, one chauffeur, a fixed price for the journey both ways.

Cannes to Saint-Tropez by private car

The road distance is about 90 km. There is no direct train to Saint-Tropez, and the ferry is seasonal. A private transfer is the simple option: your chauffeur collects you at your hotel on the Croisette, in Californie, or at Cannes station, then drives you to the port, Ramatuelle, Gassin, Port Grimaud or Pampelonne.

The price is fixed before you travel and includes fuel, tolls and waiting time at the pickup. The same service runs Saint-Tropez to Cannes for the return.

If your trip starts at Nice airport rather than in Cannes, use our Nice airport to Saint-Tropez page instead.

How to get from Cannes to Saint-Tropez

Travellers compare four options:

Option What to expect
Private chauffeur Door to door, fixed price, vehicle matched to luggage
Taxi Available, price less predictable on a long run, smaller boot
Train + bus / boat Train toward Saint-Raphaël or Fréjus, then a change with bags
Seasonal ferry Nice when the sea is calm; luggage and schedule constraints

For families, golf clubs, several suitcases or a timed dinner reservation, the private car usually wins. For one person with a cabin bag in low season, train plus a local taxi can work if you accept the changes.

The route and summer traffic

From Cannes we usually take the A8 west toward Fréjus / Le Muy, then the D25 / D559 / D98A into the gulf, the same final stretch as the Nice airport run. Out of season the motorway part is straightforward.

In July and August the bottleneck is the last 20 km: Sainte-Maxime, La Foux and the entrance to Saint-Tropez, especially on Saturdays. When the coast is blocked, the chauffeur can cut across the Maures (D558 via La Garde-Freinet) and rejoin at La Foux. We check live traffic before leaving Cannes.

Drop-offs we do most often

Area Notes
Saint-Tropez port and village Exact drop point agreed with your hotel (summer closures)
Pampelonne Exact address or pin when you book
Ramatuelle / Gassin villas Send a pin; some lanes are too narrow for a Sprinter
Port Grimaud Cars stop at the entrance car park
Sainte-Maxime Shorter run; useful for hotels on that side of the gulf

Frequently asked questions

How long is the drive from Cannes to Saint-Tropez?

About 85 to 95 km depending on the exact addresses. Out of season, allow roughly 1 h 15 to 1 h 30. In July and August, and on summer Saturdays, the last stretch around Sainte-Maxime and into Saint-Tropez often pushes the trip toward 2 hours. We give a realistic arrival window when we confirm.

Is there a ferry from Cannes to Saint-Tropez?

Seasonal boats run between Cannes and Saint-Tropez, but they depend on the timetable, the weather and luggage limits, and you still need a taxi at each end. A private transfer takes you from hotel door to villa door in one vehicle, with golf bags or several suitcases if needed.

Can you do Saint-Tropez to Cannes the same day?

Yes. Many clients spend the day around the gulf and return to Cannes for dinner, or the other way round. Book both legs together, or keep the chauffeur for a half day or full day so the car waits.

What about a taxi from Cannes to Saint-Tropez?

Taxis exist, but for this distance a pre-booked chauffeur is usually clearer: fixed price before you leave, a vehicle sized for luggage, and a pickup at your hotel at the time you choose. That is what most of our clients compare when they search for a taxi on this route.

Can you pick us up in Antibes or Juan-les-Pins on the way?

Yes, if you say so when you book. A short stop to collect passengers adds little time west of Cannes. Tell us every address so we plan the order and the vehicle size.
